Hello. And Welcome to Chasing Moments. My name is Olga. I have a PhD and a full-time career in a field that has absolutely nothing to do with photography and digital art. I have no formal training in photography and design, I have never taken any photography or art classes, attended any workshops or gotten an art degree. Yet, here I am. I picked up my first point-n-shoot (p&s) digital camera 3 years ago. I knew absolutely nothing about resolution, camera settings, focus, sharpness, shutter speed, depth of field, composition, color temperature or light. I sold over 5,000 images, many for $20 or more, last year alone (Of course, not especially impressive compared to gurus and moguls of stock photography whose sales amount to over six-digits annually... but I am not competing with them, am I? ), and I am planning to double or triple this number in the coming year.
How? I am self-taught, from A to Z. These days, all the information and knowledge you are looking for is literally at your fingertips - the internet offers a wealth of possibilitieis for self-starters in photography. From forums, to individual websites and to literally millions of all sorts of tutorials, if you really want to learn something - you have all the reasources to! The key is to devote a little bit of your every day to photography and continuously working on improving yourself as a photographer.... Well, no, erase that! The key is having a passion for photography, loving the feel of your camera, loving that "pchaa, pchaa, pchaa" of the shutter... and then devoting a little bit of your time to it every day will be the part of your day you are looking for and not something you have to do.
This webiste is my gateway to the world of photo buyers who, I hope, will find what they are looking for in my portfolio (don't forget to check out the "buy my images" section of the website). This website is also for artists, whose feedback I value and appreciate (so, do leave me a comment!), who may find something interesting or, even better, inspiring among my works, who are interested in selling photos or who might learn a trick or two from my photoshop tutorials (coming soon at my blog).
Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments.
